Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge, the sequel to Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, is an online console game released by Sony Computer Entertainment. Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge is a spin-off that includes three new characters: Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Reptile. It also introduces a few new features, such as story quests, and storyline updates for some of the older characters.
This game follows a well known story that many others have released in the past. The Scorpion and Sub-Zero are asking to assassinate their enemies, Raiden and Smoke. However, when the two villains meet, they are pulled into another reality. There, the Scorpion is asked to kill his own brother, who is already a demon. After he saves the Scorpion, the two brothers and Raiden go on a journey to rescue his daughter.
Scott Manneville, one of the creators of the Mortal Kombat series and his team worked together to create this sequel. In this game, the storyline is much more complicated and is filled with new characters and different fighters that fight in the game.
In the online platform, players can purchase any character for free. However, they cannot purchase weapons for use during online matches or in storyline mode. To support this, the console contains a coin that can be used for in-game purchases.
The online platform is also connected to the console and acts as a data mining device to find unique stats about all the fighters. This data mining system gathers information from the characters and gives them a rating that helps the game programmers come up with certain combinations. For example, in Scorpion's storyline, the ratings of his moves are based on the history of his family, including his wife, who left him and had an affair with a demon while pregnant. In order to complete Scorpion's storyline, players are required to collect Scorpion Coins, which are needed to buy his upgrades. His leveling up sequence is called the Scorpion XP sequence and can be unlocked by winning certain amounts of fights. In addition, his weapons and other special moves are available for purchase.
Mortal Kombat: Armageddon was released earlier this year and was met with negative feedback, causing the game to be canceled. Since then, a fan campaign was started to revive the game and even having it released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. This version included all characters that were first introduced in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, as well as new fighters, such as Reptile's daughter, Liu Kang.
Players can also purchase this game on Nintendo Wii as well as Sony PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. To download the free version of the game, players must purchase it in the paid version.
